Intelligent Assistants

Abstract Intelligent assistants are an increasingly commonplace class of information systems spanning a broad range form and complexity. But what characterizes intelligent assistant, how do we design better assistants? In the paper, authors contribute to scientific research in domain three steps, each building on previous. First, they investigate historical context assistance as human work. By examining qualitative studies regarding work assistants, inductively derive concepts crucial modeling assistance. This analysis informs second step, which develop conceptual typology using 111 published articles. explicates characteristics (what or how) their use (who which). third final utilize this shed light trends patterns evaluation reflect missed opportunities, discuss avenues for further exploration.
